What you wrote captures something most people never understand about trauma bonds — that the “love” people cling to isn’t love at all, but relief. And relief can feel intoxicating when you’ve been starved for safety. The way you describe crumbs tasting like a feast is so painfully accurate; it explains why smart, capable people get pulled into cycles that make no logical sense. What really hit me was how you name attachment shifting under pressure — how terror can deepen a bond instead of breaking it. That’s the part so many survivors feel ashamed of and never say out loud. Your writing makes it make sense, without judgment. It’s honest in a way that feels like exhale.

Very helpful read. I can certainly see where I am in this.
