I love it because it shows that our life on earth is one of warfare, and that we should expect at times to be hard-pressed by the enemy.
A soldier at times goes for days without sleep and food because of the dictates of battle. There are times in our service where we rest, and times in which we FIGHT, and during these times, we may actually experience some discomfort!
We have to know that Jesus is in the foxhole with us, he is going through the battle step-by-step with us, sharing our pain and struggle with us, and that we will receive consolation when we come out the other side of the battle.
This clears up so much confusion. My heart is so tattered that it seems impossible that it could be pleasing to our Lord. Thank you Jenny and St. Catherine of Sienna for untangling this knot of pain and confusion.
Jenny...my former husband would say some of these things you mention in this article.I have been divorced for over 30 years now.He was in adultry with another woman and he left.
But when I saw how you said you were naive,my husband would say ; you wear your heart on your sleeve! Making fun of me and how that was stupid to do.
I always thought that meant you had compassion and empathy.But he twisted it to make me look silly and stupid! I can only see this in retrospect.

Kathleen, I’m so sorry you had to endure so much with your ex husband. I hope you can now recognize all the lies and renounce them. It’s sadly so common to be told that we’re stupid or naive—it’s a control issue, because if we believe those lies, we’re more easily controlled. That’s why recognizing them and renouncing them is a huge defense weapon. May God bless you!

A tattered heart, when brought to Him, is extremely pleasing because He longs to heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds. We just have to ask!
